Kaitlyn Baumgardner, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C, AOCNP is trained in treating patients for tobacco cessation, including counseling and medication management. Counseling sessions include a discussion of tobacco habits and triggers, setting goals to quit smoking or tobacco use, and recommendations for tobacco cessation products or prescription of medications. I became a nurse in 2012 receiving my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO. I worked as a pediatric hematology/oncology nurse at Children's Mercy in Kansas City, MO. After moving to Ames, Iowa, I worked at Blank Children's Hospital. In 2014, an opportunity opened up at McFarland Clinic Oncology, and I moved to the adult oncology world working as a chemotherapy nurse from 2014 until 2020. While working, I pursued a Doctor of Nursing Practice to become a family nurse practitioner. Upon graduation from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, I became a nurse practitioner within the Oncology department of McFarland. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and son. We enjoy visits with family in Kansas City. I also enjoy shopping and reading when not busy with family activities.

Professionally, I enjoy educating patients about what to expect with their treatment plan regarding chemotherapy and immunotherapy and what to expect during their time with the oncology department. My philosophy is "Knowledge is Power!" I also enjoy working with patients to help with their efforts to quit smoking.
