Rheumatology Services Return to McFarland Clinic, Welcoming Melissa Wells, MD

McFarland Clinic is pleased to announce the return of rheumatology services. Melissa Wells, MD, has joined McFarland Clinic’s Rheumatology Department in Ames.

Dr. Wells received her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology from Drake University in Des Moines. She went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. Wells completed her internal medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and her Rheumatology Fellowship from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

As a rheumatologist, Dr. Wells will offer services for the diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, and lupus. She will also offer services for autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren’s syndrome, mixed connective tissue disease, and scleroderma in addition to metabolic bone diseases such as Osteoporosis, musculoskeletal conditions, and vasculitis.

Alejandra Londono, MD, will join the Rheumatology Department in August. The Rheumatology Department will be located at McFarland Clinic’s South Ames Office at 3500 University Boulevard. Future plans for the department include the addition of an infusion center for the care and treatment of patients.
