Lynn Lanning Nursing Leadership Scholarship
The Lynn Lanning Nursing Leadership Scholarship is awarded to a McFarland Clinic employee enrolled in a qualified nursing or healthcare program who demonstrates their commitment to providing extraordinary care in their role at the clinic.
Scholarship Amount
The Lynn Lanning Nursing Leadership Scholarship is a $1,500 award. It is given annually.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled in one of the following nursing/healthcare programs:
- LPN
- LPN to RN
- RN
- RN to BSN
- BSN to MSN - Nursing Leadership Track
- BSN to MHA
- An employee of McFarland Clinic in good standing for a minimum of 2 years.
- If chosen to receive the award, maintain at least part-time employment at McFarland Clinic for a minimum of 2 years following receipt of the scholarship, or will be required to return the full value of the award to the McFarland Clinic Foundation.
- Completed a minimum of one semester of classes and achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 prior to applying for the scholarship.
- Attend a nursing program accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Financial Status
Personal financial status will not be a consideration for this scholarship.
Scholarship Distribution
Scholarship distribution will be paid directly to the educational institution.
2026 Application Process
Applications for the 2026 scholarship are now closed.
The following will be required to complete the application process:
- Verification of enrollment.
- Electronic transcript from the educational institution.
- Completed application form and essay.
- Two references, including:
- One work-related reference (such as a co-worker, supervisor, or provider)
- One personal, non-family reference
Scholarship Process
The scholarship selection committee will include:
- Lynn Lanning, RN
- McFarland Clinic Director of Patient Care Services
- McFarland Clinic Staff Nurse
Members of the selection committee will each receive and review all applications and individually rank each applicant based on meeting the eligibility criteria and the quality of the applicant's essay. The ranking will be confidential. The committee will then meet to review the overall applicant rankings and discuss scholarship selection.
