Yellow Fever Vaccination Information

Important Note

Please note that we have a very limited supply of Yellow Fever Vaccination. It is extremely important that you notify us of any changes with your scheduled appointment or we may not have a vaccine available for you.

Yellow Fever Vaccine

As of the summer of 2017, the single nationwide manufacturer of Yellow Fever Vaccination (YF-VAX), Sanofi Pasteur, has run out of current stocks. The manufacturer is building a new facility, however, it is uncertain when it will be complete and when the vaccine will be available.

A European subsidiary of Sanofi Pasteur makes a different Yellow Fever vaccine called Stamaril. Although this vaccination is not currently approved by the FDA nationwide in the United States, the manufacturer has applied for an Extended Access Program (EAP) for Investigational New Drug Application (IND).

The McFarland Travel Clinic is excited to announce that we are one of just three clinics in the state of Iowa that has been asked to participate in the trial of Stamaril for vaccination against Yellow Fever.

Stamaril has been approved in over 70 countries and has been used for decades in Europe. The efficacy, indications, and side effect of Stamaril are nearly the same as YF-VAX.
