The 12th annual McFarland Clinic Turkey Food Drive was held on Thursday, December 8th. McFarland Clinic and the 2016 Turkey rallied together to benefit local food pantries in Story County, including MICA, Loaves and Fishes and the Community Cupboard. The clinic as a whole donated 5,563 items and an additional cash donation of $1,322.

The Turkey Food Drive is a McFarland Clinic Story County tradition. Each year a provider or staff member is voted to be the Turkey. This year’s turkey was Jay Swanson, DO, McFarland Clinic Obstetrician and Gynecologist. Watch this video of Dr. Swanson and staff volunteers collecting donations.

Clinical and non-clinical departments were challenged this year to see who would have the highest percentage increase from their 2015 totals of food items donated. Dr. Swanson and the volunteers stopped at every department and collected items to take to MICA.

“The Turkey Food Drive is a day employees and physicians look forward to each year. It’s a fun day for everyone involved and benefits local food pantries at a time when there is a great need,” said Marcia Kent, PR Coordinator at McFarland Clinic.

The McFarland Clinic Turkey Food Drive is held every December. For more information please contact, Marcia Kent at (515) 239-4705.
