A hernia is a bulge of intestine, another organ, or fat through the muscles of the belly. A hernia can occur when there is weakness in the muscle wall that allows part of the internal organ to push through. Hernias may be painful, especially when you cough, bend over, or lift something heavy. Hernias do not go away on their own and can only be repaired by surgery.
Join McFarland Clinic's new surgeon, Dr. Schlicher for a discussion on symptoms, complications and treatments of hernias.
