Water Safety

Swimming is a great exercise and provides relief from the hot sun during the summer. However, all children who are going to be near water should be taught water safety rules. Children should only swim with adult supervision and should stay away from bodies of water which have unknown depths. Children should always be supervised closely while near water. Also, when the child is ready, parents should encourage swimming lessons. Click on this link for more tips on water safety for school-age children from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
