What is an Ophthalmologist? Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (M.D. or D.O.) who specialize in eye care. Ophthalmologists are capable of providing a full spectrum of optical, medical and surgical evaluations and treatments of eye disease or visual problems.

What is an Optometrist? Optometrists (O.D.) are Doctors of optometry trained in the evaluation and treatment of all optical and many eye and vision problems.

What is an Optician? Opticians help patients select the proper frame and discuss options regarding lens materials and designs. Our opticians provide our patients with complimentary adjustments both before and after the sale.

When should I schedule my first eye exam? Even for people with no vision complaints, a comprehensive eye exam is an important part of maintaining good health. The American Optometric Association recommends adults have an eye exam every two years. And people over age 60 should have their eyes examined annually.

When should I schedule my child’s first eye exam? Eye exams are also important for children, as they can’t always tell you how they see. School age children should have screening eye tests at school or at their doctor’s office annually. If these indicate a problem, a timely and thorough eye exam with one of our ophthalmologists or optometrists is recommended.
