Ames Native Joins OB/Gyn Department

McFarland Clinic would like to welcome Jay Swanson, DO, PhD to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department located at 1015 Duff Avenue in Ames. He will begin seeing patients in May.

Dr. Swanson received his medical degree at Des Moines University. Dr. Swanson completed his bachelor and doctor of philosophy at Iowa State University. He also completed his internship and residency at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base in California.

Serving in the United States Air Force he will separate as a Lieutenant Colonel after being stationed with the 52nd at Bitburg USAF Hospital, Germany and 375th at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“After growing up in Ames, I always knew what a great community it was. The United States Air Force provided me with a chance to give back to my country. After serving around the country and overseas, I am proud to return home,” said Dr. Swanson.
