Dr. Renald Bernard is known in his practice as a phlebologist. A phlebologist is a physician that specializes in vein treatment.

He is a native of Quebec, Canada. He obtained his medical degree at Laval University in 1966. Dr. Bernard developed an interest in varicose veins early in his practice. He trained with distinguished phlebologists in Canada and France.

Dr. Bernard served as director of the Canadian Society of Phlebology for nine years. He became a founding member of the American Society of Phlebectomy in 1996.

Presently, Dr. Bernard is head of the Phlebology program at McFarland Clinic in Ames, Iowa. He is also a Member of the American College of Phlebology, International Union of Phlebology, and Member of the Canadian Society of Phlebology.
