Conditions Treated:
Pain medicine has emerged as a separate specialty that requires advanced training and knowledge. The pain physician serves as a consultant to other physicians, but is often the primary treating physician. Physicians and nurses specialize in pain medicine and evaluate and treat a wide variety of chronic problems, including:

· Low-back and thoracic pain
· Neck and arm pain
· Phantom limb pain
· Work-related injuries
· Nerve entrapment
· Ischemic and vascular pain
· Cancer pain
· Neuralgia
· Muscular and myofascial pain
· Acute shingles
· Post-herpetic neuralgia
· Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) causalgia

We also offer a second opinion service for a variety of diagnostic treatment options.

Most patients are treated on an outpatient basis. The Pain Medicine Clinic is located on the first floor of Mary Greeley Medical Center, near the Emergency Department. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
