Obstetrics & Gynecology
Physicians and nurse-midwives in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology are specialists in the female reproductive system and also serve as primary care providers throughout a woman’s life.The obstetrician provides prenatal and delivery care, diagnostic ultrasound, genetic amniocentesis and access to other medical specialties when necessary.
The gynecologist deals with the diagnosis and treatment, medically and surgically, of reproductive system diseases, infertility, and menopausal problems.
The nurse-midwife provides gynecological and obstetrical well-woman care, including pre-natal care, labor and delivery management and postpartum care. A relationship for consultation, collaboration, and referral exists with the obstetricians.
The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers ultrasound, genetic amniocentesis, amniocentesis for fetal lung maturity, sonohysterograms, office hysteroscopy, and evaluations of recurrent pregnancy loss.
